Katsina state governor, Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State, has advocated for agricultural innovation in the state.
He made the move during his visit to Gallu community in Mashi Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.
The governor while en route to Katsina, was visibly struck by the energetic atmosphere of the market, bustling with activity as people engaged in lively business transactions.
In a statement by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary to governor said that the bustling market day in Gallu showcased a thriving hub of commerce, with the locals trading farm produce alongside businessmen and women who came all the way from the Southwest and Southeast regions.
“Recognizing the important role of these economic activities, Governor Radda halted his convoy to engage with the community and gain firsthand insights into their agricultural practices and methods.
“Impressed particularly by the farm output, Governor Radda
requested a visit to the farms in the area practising dry season farming, despite the security challenges prevalent in the state.
While interacting with the farmers in Gallu, Governor Radda reiterated his commitment to supporting their endeavors, emphasizing agriculture as a cornerstone of his administration’s agenda.
The Katsina Governor pledged to facilitate dialogue between the farming community and the Ministry of Agriculture and the Katsina State Irrigation Authority to further
enhance agricultural productivity in the area.
“During his visit to the farms, Governor Radda had the opportunity to witness firsthand the innovative irrigation techniques employed by local farmers. Impressed by their dedication and ingenuity, he extended his appreciation and goodwill, conveying his best wishes for a bountiful harvest.
“Governor Radda seized the opportunity to encourage youths in the area to embrace agricultural pursuits as a way to secure their futures and avoid the dangers of criminal activity.”
