Katsina strengthens community defense with more recruits for Watch Corps

In a bid to bolster security across Katsina State, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda announced plans to expand the state’s Community Watch Corps program.
Governor Radda disclosed this during a security meeting with stakeholders held at the Government House People’s Square on Wednesday. He outlined plans to recruit qualified and patriotic young men to serve in their respective communities.
To that effect, a dedicated committee to oversee the identification, screening, and recruitment of interested youths in the state has been formed.
The expansion of the Watch Corps program will empower our communities to take a more proactive role in their own defense.
The Katsina State Government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the program and will provide training sessions for new recruits and equip them with the necessary arms and logistical support to effectively perform their security duties.
Governor Radda also urged the federal government to consider redeploying lower-ranking security personnel back to their home states within Katsina. He believes this would allow them to serve their communities with a deeper sense of commitment.
State Commissioner for Internal Security, Dr. Nasir Muazu Danmusa commended Governor Radda’s leadership in fostering cooperation among security forces in the fight against banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
He pinpointed the positive impact of initiatives such as the Ministry of Internal Security and the office of the Senior Special Assistant on Victims of Banditry and IDPs.
