The camp of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has suffered a major setback as several of his loyalists, including his immediate past deputy, Chief Crowder Seth; former Speaker Gibson Nathaniel; and a former Special Adviser and ex-ALGON chairman, Alhaji Sahabo Aliyu Gurin, have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Other defectors include former Chief Judge Justice Ambrose Mamadi, former members of the State Assembly, local government chairmen, and other political figures.

Meanwhile, APC stakeholders in Adamawa — including party executives, Assembly members, political appointees, elders, and other leaders — have adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as their sole presidential candidate for the 2027 election. They also passed a vote of confidence in the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The defectors were officially received into the party at an elaborate event organized by the APC in Yola to mark this year’s Democracy Day and the second anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Mr. Ayuba Terry, former Chairman of Michika Local Government Area, said their decision to join the APC was inspired by President Tinubu’s outstanding performance over the past two years.

He assured the party of their loyalty and commitment to contributing their quota to national development. He also pledged to work with other party stakeholders to ensure victory for the APC and President Tinubu in the 2027 elections, promising to help the party reclaim Adamawa State, which it lost in 2019.

Earlier, the Adamawa State APC Chairman, Barrister Shuaibu Idris, described Tinubu’s achievements as remarkable and worthy of celebration, noting that the party came together to recognize and celebrate his unprecedented strides in governance.
