The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that Senate President Godswill Akpabio is behind a supposed media smear campaign against former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel.

In a statement released on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC mocked the PDP’s claim that Akpabio was sponsoring false narratives to discredit the opposition party. Morka described the PDP as an already “discredited” entity, arguing that it had lost all credibility on its own.

“The PDP thinks itself capable of being discredited when it knows quite well there is absolutely nothing left of it that can be discredited,” Morka said.

He further dismissed the suggestion that Akpabio was involved in any effort to instigate anti-graft agencies against Emmanuel, stating that both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) operate independently.

“If Udom Emmanuel has been invited by the agencies, he should quietly go and answer to the allegations,” Morka stated. “The former governor should focus on clearing his name rather than dragging Senator Akpabio into his troubles.”

The APC spokesman also mocked the PDP’s struggles ahead of the 2025 Anambra governorship election, suggesting that the party should focus on finding a candidate rather than fabricating political conspiracies.

“PDP should keep itself occupied with searching for a courageous volunteer aspirant to fly its tattered flag,” he said.

Morka reaffirmed Akpabio’s commitment to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration, dismissing the PDP’s allegations as baseless distractions.
