Backlash against Woli Arole over controversial post on Christianah Idowu’s murder

Content creator turned pastor, Woli Arole, has faced intense criticism for his response to the tragic murder of Christianah Idowu, a 300-level student of FUNAAB.

Idowu was abducted and killed by her male friend, Ayomide Adeleye, a 200-level student of OOU.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Woli Arole addressed the incident by cautioning women to be security conscious. However, his message was perceived as victim-blaming, as he listed behaviors such as having a sugar daddy, spending weekends with male friends, and fornicating as factors that put women at risk.

Many took to social media to express their outrage, accusing Woli Arole of preaching to the victims rather than condemning the perpetrators. Critics argued that his post shifted the focus from the men who commit these heinous crimes to the women who are victimized.

An Instagram user, @sweetylyx_official wrote, “Instead of warning ladies why not tell your gender to do the right thing. As usual always looking for a way to blame the v!ctims.”

Another user added, @fortunes_smiles added: “One girl was killed in church after Night Virgil.. she was a devoted christain if I can remember… let’s hold the guys accountable as well .. this barbaric nature MUST stop.“
