Barcelona announced the team’s return to the Camp Nou on Wednesday.

Hansi Flick’s side will return to their home stadium to play Como on 10th August in a new edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy.

Barcelona will return home on 10th August. The club confirmed that the return to the Camp Nou will take place at the Joan Gamper trophy, which in this edition will be played against Cesc Fabregas’ Como.

Although the Catalan club has not given many details of the return, ‘La Vanguardia’ has announced that it expects to open the first two stands of the new Camp Nou in full, so the number of spectators would rise to 60,000, much more than the 25,000 they had in mind for the Gamper.

“This return represents a milestone for the club and for the’Cules’, as, after more than two years of extensive renovation and after having played temporarily at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, the thrill of football will once again be experienced in the ‘Azulgrana’ temple, in the heart of Les Corts. However, it should be noted that the return will take place while work continues on the new Spotify Camp Nou, so it will be necessary to coexist with performances in different areas of the stadium,” the club said in a statement.

Barcelona specified the work to be carried out: “Among the parts still to be completed are the construction of the new third tier, the double VIP ring, the installation of the roof, as well as the final adaptation of some interior spaces and the exterior urbanisation of the stadium’s surroundings.

“During this stage, the club will work to ensure maximum comfort for members and fans visiting the Spotify Camp Nou, facilitating access and adapting the services to offer the best possible experience”.
