Breaking: Bobrisky arrested by EFCC at Lagos airport

Controversial Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has reportedly been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) while attempting to board a flight to London from Lagos.
The crossdresser, who shared the news via his Instagram story, posted a brief video where he claimed to have sustained an injury during the arrest.
In the video, Bobrisky wrote, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured,” asking his followers for support amidst the ongoing incident.

This latest run-in with authorities comes just a few weeks after his arrest by the Benin Republic Immigration Service at the Seme border during routine passport checks. Bobrisky was reportedly attempting to exit Nigeria without drawing attention when EFCC officials detained him at the airport.
The crossdresser’s legal troubles have been mounting since April 2024, when the Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced him to six months imprisonment over naira abuse. Although officially held at Kirikiri Prison, rumors circulated that he spent only three weeks there before being moved to a private location under alleged special conditions. Speculation grew that his early transfer was facilitated by a N15 million bribe to officials, raising public outrage over perceived preferential treatment.
The controversy escalated further in late September when a leaked audio clip emerged, allegedly capturing Bobrisky claiming that human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, artist Falz, had approached him during his imprisonment. In the recording, Bobrisky purportedly said that the duo sought N10 million from him to secure a presidential pardon.
In response, Falana and Falz issued a cease-and-desist letter on October 16, 2024, demanding a retraction and apology for what they described as defamatory allegations. Bobrisky, however, denied the authenticity of the recording, insisting that he had not made those statements and urging the Falanas to hold the influencer behind the leaked audio responsible instead.
The unfolding events surrounding Bobrisky’s arrests and legal disputes continue to fuel public curiosity and debate over the crossdresser’s activities and alleged ties to influential figures.
