A High Court sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State, has removed Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed Tijani Anaje as the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, months after his appointment by former Governor Yahaya Bello.
Justice Salisu Umar of High Court 6 delivered the ruling on Monday, restraining Anaje from parading himself as the paramount traditional ruler of Ebiraland.
Anaje was appointed in January 2024 during the final days of Bello’s administration, but his ascension to the throne has been met with legal challenges.
While full details of the judgment are yet to be made public, the case, filed under Suit Number HCO/05C/2024, was brought before the court by Dr. Barnabas Adeku Ojiah and two others against the Kogi State Government.
The ruling has intensified debates over the traditional leadership of Ebiraland, with further legal battles expected in the coming weeks.
