Breaking: EFCC officer shot dead by suspected ‘yahoo boys’

Tragedy struck in Anambra State on Friday, as operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) came under heavy attack from suspected internet fraudsters also known as Yahoo Boys during a mission to arrest them.
The EFCC officers, who were dispatched from the Enugu Zonal Command, faced gunfire when they attempted to apprehend the suspects, locally known as Yahoo Boys.
The violent encounter led to the death of an EFCC official, an assistant superintendent who had recently passed a promotional exam. Another operative sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital for emergency care.
Despite the deadly resistance, the operatives managed to arrest one male Yahoo boy suspect, although his identity remains undisclosed. It is also unclear whether he has obtained legal representation.
The EFCC and the Anambra State Police are yet to release official statements regarding the incident.
