Breaking: Liverpool beat Tottenham to clinch Premier League title

Liverpool have secured the English Premier League title after a dominant 5-1 victory over Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday.
Needing at least a point to clinch the championship and level Manchester United’s tally of 20 league titles, the Reds delivered in style with goals from Luis Díaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, and an own goal from Destiny Udogie.
“This is the most beautiful club in the world. We deserve this. We are going to enjoy the next couple of weeks and take it in,” said captain Virgil van Dijk to Sky Sports after the match. “I was desperate to win it for them [the fans] and all the fans around the world, and for us as well.”
Salah’s strike marked his 185th Premier League goal, making him the highest-scoring foreign player in the competition’s history.
Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace on Wednesday confirmed that they can no longer catch Liverpool, even with four matches remaining. The Merseysiders now hold a 15-point lead over the Gunners, having lost just twice in 34 league games this season. This marks a brilliant first year for Arne Slot, who joined Liverpool last summer after leaving Feyenoord to replace Jürgen Klopp.
When Liverpool last triumphed in the league during the 2020 COVID-19 season, the players and staff gathered at Formby Hall Hotel to watch Manchester City’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea, which secured their first league title since 1990.
