Chelsea speaks on Sancho’s contract as deadline approaches

Chelsea remain in ongoing talks with Jadon Sancho’s representatives over the terms of a permanent contract, but no agreement has yet been reached on salary.
A final decision is expected within the coming days, with an outcome anticipated next week.
Sancho, currently on loan from Manchester United since August 2024, faces a pivotal moment as Chelsea consider activating the £25 million obligation to buy. Should contract terms not be agreed, the winger will return to Old Trafford, with the Blues liable to pay a £5 million compensation fee.
The main hurdle in negotiations is the player’s weekly wage demand of £350,000, which far exceeds the club’s current salary structure.
The team’s highest earner, Reece James, earns £250,000 per week, highlighting the challenge of balancing player expectations with financial policies.
Chelsea must decide whether to meet his demands or accept his return to Manchester United as they weigh the cost implications amid ongoing efforts to manage the squad’s wage bill effectively.
