Drama as Nigerian man empties GTBank account over VeryDarkMan’s arrest

A Nigerian man has created buzz online after publicly protesting the arrest of controversial influencer VeryDarkMan by withdrawing all his money from Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank).
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the disgruntled customer slammed the bank for what he called a “reckless move” and demanded the immediate release of the social media personality. He further warned GTBank to “leave Nigeria” if VeryDarkMan remains in custody.
VeryDarkMan was reportedly arrested at a GTBank branch in Abuja where he accompanied his mother to lodge a complaint over unauthorized deductions from her account, despite not being indebted to the bank. According to witnesses, the influencer was taken away by police officers while discussions with the bank staff were still ongoing.
A video posted online by his brother showed the emotional moment their mother broke down in tears following the arrest, adding to public outrage.
As of press time, neither GTBank nor the Nigeria Police Force has issued an official statement addressing the incident.
The arrest has triggered reactions on social media, with many Nigerians questioning the bank’s role and the basis for involving law enforcement.

@magicfingers07: “Nigerians and clout you think moving funds between banks is that easy. You think banking with Nigeria banks you’re doing them a favor. They’re the ones doing you favors by helping you keep your money. Their money don’t come from your savings account. Operate a business account”
