#Edodecides2024: INEC uploads 74.68% of results, Obaseki commends voter enthusiasm

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made significant progress in uploading the results of the Edo State governorship election on its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
As of the latest update, 74.68% of the results, representing 3,375 out of 4,519 polling units, have been successfully uploaded.
Governor Godwin Obaseki, who cast his vote at Oredo Ward 4, Unit 19, Emokpae Primary School, praised the high voter turnout despite the heavy rain. “The turnout and enthusiasm of the electorate are high… People are very interested in this election because it’s a watershed for us in Edo,” he said.
Obaseki also commended the presence of security agencies, noting that the military has done a good job in maintaining order. However, he expressed concerns about the police, citing reports of unauthorized arrests at polling units.
The election, which saw voting extended in areas with delayed starts, is being closely watched as a crucial test for Nigeria’s electoral process. Thediscovererng.com will give further updates as the results continue to unfold.
