Falcons star in search of Yoruba tutor

Super Falcons forward, Rinsola Babajide, says she is open to having a private Yoruba language tutor as she tries to speak her native language fluently.
Babajide born in London to Nigerian parents, has previously represented England at youth level before switching to Nigeria in 2023.
The 26-year-old helped England win bronze at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, and her outstanding performances with Liverpool saw her earn a call-up to the England Women’s training camp after being voted the Reds 2019/2020 Player of The Season. She however didn’t feature for the Lionesses.
The Tenerife player who is currently on holiday shared a post on her X account on Sunday, where she was taking on the trending 12345678 challenge in the Yoruba language.
“Learning Yoruba, the best way…through music. Rate my Yoruba out of 10 and help. Open to a private tutor,” she wrote in her caption of the video.
She made her debut for the Super Falcons in October 2023 during their 2024 Olympic Games Women’s qualifier against Ethiopia.
Babajide who was handed the No.9 jersey in the match-day squad for the encounter, came off the substitute bench to replace Uchenna Kanu in the 70th minute of the first-leg second-round tie against Ethiopia and showed a glimpse of her brilliance as the Falcons recorded a 1-1 draw in Adisa Abba.
However, she was surprisingly omitted from the final squad to Paris by coach Randy Waldrum.
In the Spanish women’s topflight, Liga F, last season, she scored three goals and seven assists for Tenerife.
