FG announces committee to combat bullying in schools

Federal Ministry of Education, Tuesday, announced that it has established a seven-member committee to address bullying in all Nigerian schools.
The FG is reinforcing its commitment to student welfare and a safe learning environment.
The committee will also be mandated to review reported cases and ensure swift action, complementing the 21-member team working on a National Policy on Anti-Bullying.
To facilitate confidential reporting, the government has introduced a hotline – 09012660044, email: antibullying@education.gov.ng and WhatsApp – 08052536133 to report such cases.
Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, emphasised the urgent need for effective interventions, citing the psychological impact of bullying on students.
Director, Press and Public Relations in the ministry, Boriowo Folasade, who disclosed this, reiterated the Ministry’s zero-tolerance stance on bullying, urging school administrators, teachers, parents, and students to support the initiative.
“This aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritising education as a driver of national development,” she said.
