Fubara invites Rivers Assembly for crucial meeting

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has extended an official invitation to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, and all members of the legislature for a crucial meeting aimed at resolving key governance issues.
According to a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, the meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt, by 10 a.m.
The agenda includes discussions on providing a suitable space for the Assembly’s sittings, payment of all outstanding remuneration and allowances of lawmakers, presentation of the state budget, and other matters necessary for moving the state forward.
The invitation signals a potential effort by Governor Fubara to mend the strained relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government in Rivers State, following months of political tension. It remains to be seen how the lawmakers will respond to the invitation and whether it will pave the way for reconciliation in the state’s governance.
