Kano State Hisbah Board, has allocated 50 slots to journalists and media workers in the next batch of the state’s mass wedding programme.
The Commander-General of the board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, while announcing the allocation, said, the effort is to extend the programme’s benefits to professional groups, including members of the media.
In the light of this success, the Hisbah chief said the board decided to expand the programme to include interested members of various professional fields such as journalism, law, and healthcare.
Sheikh Daurawa explained that the state’s mass wedding initiative was conceived to promote moral values in the society and reduce immorality among young men and women.
By involving more professionals, the board seeks to strengthen community ties and provide support to individuals seeking to get married.
In addition to the expanded mass wedding programme, Sheikh Daurawa disclosed the establishment of the Hisbah Academy in collaboration with local institutions such as Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK), Aminu Kano College of Islamic Legal Studies, Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education, and Bayero University, Kano (BUK).
He stressed that the academy which will offer formal education and training in Hisbah work will be awarding certificates to its graduates.
The Hisbah Academy aims to equip students with knowledge and skills relevant to Hisbah operations, furthering the board’s mission to maintain peace and order in Kano State.
Daurawa however did not mention the commencement date for the second phase of the mass wedding.
