Kogi ready to establish special agro-industrial processing zone

Governor Ahmed Ododo has announced that the state government is ready to establish a Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
The project, which is part of the AfDB’s initiative to promote agricultural development in Africa, aims to attract significant private sector investment to Kogi State. The state government has allocated 254 hectares of land for the project, which is expected to process various crops and create job opportunities for the local population.
Governor Ododo assured the AfDB delegation that the state government will provide the necessary support for the project’s success, in line with his administration’s policy on industrialization and food security.
The SAPZ project is expected to increase productivity, provide access to markets for farmers, and enhance food security in Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole.
The AfDB delegation, led by Dr. Bashir Ibrahim Gaya, commended the state government’s commitment to the project and expressed optimism about its potential impact on the state’s economy.
The establishment of the SAPZ is part of Governor Ododo’s vision to transform Kogi State into an agro-industrial hub, creating a model for sustainable agricultural development in Nigeria.
