My best teacher, by Tunji Lanre Oloyede

He’s round and oval in shape, older than the pyramids of Egypt, taller than the highlands of Ethiopia, stretching beyond the ocean of India.

Though tenderly than the fall of Niagara, yet tougher than the wildcat of Sambisa forest.

My teacher is a connoisseur of knowledge, a custodian of axioms.

He taught me many lessons, he brought many blessings; he taught me via experiences.

He taught me values, he taught me vices, he taught me suffering, he taught me pleasure, he taught me love, he taught me hate.

He taught me respect, he taught me contempt, he taught me gains of peace, he taught me pains of war.

He taught me that life is full of vicissitudes, ups and downs, good and bad, and that nothing good comes on a platter of gold.

He taught me that all that glitter are not gold and that there is no such thing as bed of roses.

He taught me labour, he taught me hard work, he taught me perseverance, he taught me determination.

He taught me that in the midst of corruption, honesty and integrity pay.

He taught me that the path to greatness is not a smooth one, but rather rough and undulating;

But beyond the strive, beyond the struggle, beyond the sweat, beyond the tears and beyond the race, lies the tape of victory, the rostrum of stardom and the crown of glory.

Now, who’s my teacher? My teacher is LIFE- the Best teacher of all time.
