Nwabali announces both parents burial dates

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has shared the official burial arrangements for his late parents, Chief Nwabali Godspower Onyekamu and Mrs. Grace Nwabali, describing the loss as a deeply painful chapter in his life.
Taking to his Instagram page on Friday, May 30, the football star expressed heartbreak over the double tragedy, admitting that saying goodbye to both parents at once was something he never imagined.
“About time to put my dad and mom to rest. Something I never imagined doing so soon at this point in my life. Difficult to believe I will never set my eyes on you again. It’s a different kind of pain I never wish for my enemy. Thank you for everything,” he wrote in a post accompanied by the funeral notice.
According to the announcement, the burial rites will span three days, beginning on Thursday, June 5, 2025, with a Service of Songs at 5:00 PM at Chief Nwabali’s residence on Osafu Lane, Okwuzi Egbema, Rivers State.
The following day, Friday, June 6, the body of Mrs. Grace Nwabali will be moved from Gbegbe Hospital Mortuary, Omoku, to her father’s compound, and later to her husband’s home. She will lie in state at 11:00 AM, allowing friends, family, and sympathizers to pay their last respects.
On Saturday, June 7, the remains of Chief Godspower Nwabali will be taken from the mortuary to his maternal home at 9:00 AM. At 10:00 AM, he will be officially received by the Okwuzi Council of Chiefs before lying in state at his residence by 11:00 AM. The internment and final funeral rites will follow at 12:00 noon.
A grand reception and entertainment of guests will take place at CPS Okwuzi Egbema after the burial.
Chief Nwabali died at the age of 72, while Mrs. Grace Nwabali passed away at 63.
The Nwabali family expressed deep appreciation to all well-wishers for their support and invited the public to join them in celebrating the lives of their beloved parents on June 6 and 7.
