Odunlade escapes death as fuel tanker explodes

Nollywood actress, Olamide Odunlade is full of gratitude after narrowly escaping a deadly fuel tanker explosion that rocked the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday.
The incident, which occurred near the Deeper Life Bible Church and directly in front of the NASFAT camp, involved a fully loaded petrol tanker that fell while in motion and burst into flames moments later. The resulting fire sent thick plumes of smoke into the sky and caused widespread panic among motorists and nearby residents.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with many commuters abandoning their vehicles and fleeing on foot. The explosion triggered a massive traffic gridlock, stretching all the way back to the Berger area. Some drivers, in a desperate bid to escape, drove against the flow of traffic, worsening the already dangerous situation.
Among those caught in the chaos was actress Olamide Odunlade. In an emotional video shared on her Instagram page shortly after the incident, the visibly shaken actress could be seen running from the inferno, thanking God for sparing her life.
“God, thank you. What would I have said? Everybody run!” she cried in the video, fighting back tears.
The actress’s post quickly drew an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry, with many offering prayers and expressing relief over her safety. Some also used the moment to call for urgent reforms and improved safety protocols on Nigerian roads to prevent future tragedies.
Thankfully, no casualties were reported as of the time of filing this report, but authorities have yet to release an official statement on the cause of the tanker crash.
