Pelican boss advocates youths entrepreneurship

Babatunde Adeyemo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pelican Valley, has advised the youth to key into entrepreneurship early in life, saying this helps them to become employers of labour and contribute to economic growth.

Adeyemo urged Nigerian youths to invest their resources wisely in real estate or businesses of their choice to build a future for themselves.

The real estate practitioner gave this counsel during the 22nd annual symposium of Excel Assembly Foundation held at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Adeyemo spoke on “The Evolution of Entrepreneurship and Benefits of an Entrepreneur in the Society”.

He warned that there were no more adequate white-collar jobs in the country, pointing out that youths must start thinking and acting like entrepreneurs.

Adeyemo said that despite the seemingly tough business climate of the country, it was still possible for prospective investors or entrepreneurs to start on time.

He said, “What it takes to start such zero-capital businesses are faith in oneself, integrity, honesty, goodwill, perseverance, I – can – -do – it spirit and focus”.

Adeyemo said, “For instance, in my real estate business I have had to pay someone a commission as high as N10m for bringing clients who eventually subscribed to the Pelican Valley range of products”.

He said there were still producers or manufacturers – local and international, looking for just one honest person to help them push their products and services out to the market.

Adeyemo encouraged the students to start working on their integrity, and character and build trust as they are the greatest capital they will need to start any worthwhile venture with zero – capital and still succeed.

He disclosed that good grades or academic excellence alone is not enough to succeed in the world of today, describing character as a very significant factor they must pay attention to while taking advantage of the information age and technology.

Earlier in his comments, Mr Akinbami Olawale, the Premier of Excel Club, an accountant and vendor of accounting software, harped on the social capital-building quality circle of friends, cognizance and integrity to succeed in a world of business.
