Peter Obi reacts to Julius Abure’s court victory

Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has responded to the court ruling affirming Julius Abure as the substantive Chairman of the party.
Obi shared his thoughts on X, formerly known as Twitter, emphasizing the importance of unity and focus as the party navigates this latest development.
Thediscovererng.com reports that Abure was confirmed as the legitimate chairman of the Labour Party by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, a decision he described as “a triumph for justice and democracy.” In his statement following the victory, Abure expressed gratitude and forgiveness, urging Peter Obi to work towards uniting the party. He reiterated the party’s commitment to fighting for the common man and improving Nigeria.
In his reaction, Peter Obi called on his supporters and party members to remain calm and undistracted, reaffirming his dedication to the mission of building a better Nigeria.
“Yesterday, Governor Alex Otti and I, along with the Caretaker Chairman and Secretary of the Labour Party, convened to discuss and review recent developments, including the judgment delivered by an Abuja High Court on the same day,” Obi shared.
He further urged members of the Labour Party to exercise patience as discussions and consultations continue, noting that the goal is to strengthen and unify the party.
“Our goal is to emerge stronger and more unified, standing together as one united front. We must not allow this to divert us from addressing the pressing issues affecting our people today,” Obi emphasized.
Obi acknowledged the challenges the party has faced in its quest to create a “new Nigeria,” but maintained that the journey ahead would not be without obstacles.

The court ruling has created reactions within the political sphere, with some congratulating Abure on his legal victory, while others speculate on the potential implications for the future of the Labour Party. Nonetheless, Obi’s message of calm and focus seeks to guide the party forward as it navigates these complexities.
