Professor Babagana Zulum is a Nigerian Governor who hailed from North-east Borno State.

Babagana Zulum was born on August 25, 1969, in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.

Zulum attended Mafa primary school and government secondary school in Monguno

After his secondary school education he proceed to studied Agricultural Engineering at the University of Maiduguri and later obtained a master’s degree in Soil and Water Engineering from the University of Ibadan.

Zulum’s professional career began in 1989 as an assistant technical officer in the Borno State Ministry of Agriculture.

Zulum later became a lecturer at the University of Maiduguri and rose to the rank of Professor.

After becoming a professor, Zulum was later appointed as the Rector of Ramat Polytechnic and Commissioner of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement in Borno State.

In 2019 under the All progressives congress (APC), Zulum was elected as the Governor of Borno State.

After becoming the governor of Borno State, Zulum has been a target of several assassination attempts by Boko Haram, despite all attempt he has continued to work towards the development of Borno by completing and commissioning 77 projects in the health, education, and other sectors of the state.

Zulum over the years has been recognized for his achievements, including being conferred with the Nigerian national honor of Commander of the order of the Niger (CON) in 2022.

He has also been praised for his efforts in reconstructing and resettling communities affected by Boko Haram.
