The former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani, has condemned former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over his recent political remarks.
According to Sani, El-Rufai practised tyranny while in power but now preaches democracy after leaving office.
Recall that El-Rufai, at an event on Monday in Abuja, accused his party, the All Progressives Congress, of abandoning its founding principles and promoting poor leadership.
He had said, “You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders. This is why we end up with the poor leadership we have today.”
Reacting to El-Rufai’s comments, Sani, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Tuesday, said, “The man with a history of undisguised intolerance to the opposition and hypersensitive allergy to criticisms has no moral or saintly authority to stand on the pulpit of democracy to preach about good governance.”
Comparing El-Rufai’s behaviour to someone bitter over rejection, Sani added, “If Nasir El-Rufai is in a Keke Napep, he will call it a Lamborghini; if he is thrown out of the Lamborghini, he will call it a Keke Napep. He demonised the opposition while in the palace but now embraces them in the wilderness.”
According to him, Tinubu’s government today is led by illiterates because they refused to appoint Professor Nasiru, whom Sani alleged “left behind a heap of garbage in Kaduna and is now preaching hygiene in Nigeria.”
