Tinubu not in France for medical reasons – Daniel Bwala

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy and Communications, has debunked claims that the president is in France for medical reasons, insisting that Tinubu is on a working visit.
Bwala made the clarification on Sunday while speaking on Sunday Politics, a programme on Channels Television. He took a swipe at social media users who, according to him, are spreading false information without credible sources.
“Sometimes on social media, somebody will be tweeting, and you don’t even know who the person is—it can be somebody who has mental health issues somewhere,” Bwala said, expressing frustration over the rapid spread of misinformation online.
He stressed that the president is not in France to see a doctor, contrary to the claims making rounds. “The president did not go to France to see a doctor; he’s on a working visit and we have been publishing his activities,” he added.
President Tinubu departed Nigeria for Paris on April 2, 2025, and according to official communication, he is scheduled to return on Wednesday, April 16.
The presidency has faced increasing scrutiny over Tinubu’s trips abroad, with critics often raising concerns about transparency. However, Bwala’s recent comments aim to put those speculations to rest and redirect focus to the president’s engagements while in France.
