Tragedy as Nollywood lost another popular actress

A popular renowned South African actress, Connie Chiume, is dead.

Chiume was born on June 5, 1952, in Welkom, South Africa and died on August 6, 2024 at age 72, at Garden City Hospital in Johannesburg.

Chiume before her death has had a distinguished career in film, television, and theater, spanning over four decade.

Chiume in her career has received numerous awards and nominations such as, Best supporting actress for her role in Ayanda (2016). Best actress in a supporting role for Vaya (2017) and many others.

Chiume’s family in a statement requested privacy as they mourn the huge loss.

The statement reads, “The Chiume Family regrets to inform you of the passing of the internationally acclaimed award-winning actress Connie Chiume. Connie Chiume, 72, passed on at Garden City Hospital on August 6, 2024.

The family will communicate further details and ask for privacy during this difficult period.”
