Tuface risks 5-year jail term if… – Governor aide reveals

Media personality Ossai Ovie Success has warned that music legend Tuface could face up to five years in prison if he proceeds with his marriage to Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru while still undergoing divorce proceedings with his estranged wife, Annie Idibia.
Taking to social media, Ossai expressed disappointment in the singer, describing his proposal to Natasha as “wrong timing.” He stated that under Nigerian law, Tuface cannot legally marry another woman until his divorce from Annie is finalized, warning that doing otherwise would constitute bigamy, a criminal offense punishable by imprisonment.
“I’m disappointed in 2Baba, considering the timing of his proposal to Natasha. After watching the proposal video, I wondered, ‘Does he know what he’s doing?’ The fact is that 2Baba cannot marry Natasha while going through divorce proceedings with Annie,” Ossai wrote.
He further cited Nigerian legal provisions, including Section 370 of the Criminal Code Act (CCA) 1990, the Matrimonial Causes Act (MCA) 1990, and Section 47 of the Marriage Act 1990, which all prohibit contracting a new marriage while a previous one is still legally binding.
“Doing so would constitute bigamy, punishable under the law with imprisonment for up to five years. Any marriage contracted while a previous one is still subsisting is null and void. If 2Baba proceeds with marrying Natasha without finalizing his divorce, Annie can file a complaint, leading to his prosecution for bigamy,” he added.
The development has sent the social media abuzz, with many questioning whether the singer fully understands the legal implications of his actions. Meanwhile, neither Tuface nor Natasha has responded to the warning.
