The Vanguard Against Drug Abuse (VGADA), a rehabilitation centre in Abuja, has partnered with Slum Tech, an information technology firm, to enhance community health and technology access, particularly in underserved areas.
Dr Hope Omeiza, Executive Director of VGADA, made this announcement during a visit from Slum Tech’s CEO, Ms Abdullahi Asmau, to the rehab centre in Abuja.
Omeiza stated that the partnership aimed to address the dual challenges of substance abuse and technological inequality.
He described VGADA as an organisation dedicated to combating substance abuse.
“The partnership will integrate VGADA’s extensive experience in community health with Slum Tech’s cutting-edge technology solutions, enhancing the organisation’s ability to deliver critical services and resources to those affected by substance abuse.
“The partnership will introduce technology-driven support services, including digital tools for education, recovery management, and outreach programmes.
“Slum Tech’s expertise will help develop and deploy apps and platforms supporting individuals in their recovery journey and providing valuable resources to communities in need.
“By combining VGADA’s commitment to fighting drug abuse with Slum Tech’s focus on bridging the digital divide, the partnership will empower underserved communities with essential health support and access to vital technology.”
Omeiza expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, “We are thrilled to team up with Slum Tech.
“Their innovative approach to technology aligns perfectly with our mission to support those affected by substance abuse.”
Responding, Ms Abdullahi Asmau, Slum Tech’s CEO, said partnering with VGADA was a significant step forward for Slum Tech.
