VIDEO: How prayer prevented Naira from crashing to ₦10,000 per dollar- Pst. Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E.A. Adeboye, has credited divine intervention for preventing the naira from crashing to an alarming rate of ₦10,000 per dollar.
Speaking during the Special Holy Ghost Congress in Abuja, Adeboye revealed that he prayed fervently for Nigeria’s economy and appreciated others who joined him in interceding for the nation.
Highlighting the root causes of Nigeria’s economic struggles, the cleric pointed to the country’s heavy reliance on fuel imports despite its vast oil resources. He lamented the billions spent on refineries that remain nonfunctional, leaving the country dependent on imported petrol.
Adeboye also addressed the controversies surrounding the government’s removal of fuel subsidies, a policy that sparked widespread debate and backlash.
“We need help, and it’s not human help; it’s divine help,” he emphasized.
Reflecting on the economic challenges, he said, “Before our current president took office, we knew the root of our financial issues was the importation of petrol. Despite being an oil-producing nation, we continued to import petrol and waste billions on refineries that didn’t work.
“When the president removed the subsidy on petrol imports, those who benefited from it became upset and created even more problems.”
He concluded by underscoring the importance of prayer in averting an economic disaster. “If God hadn’t intervened, $1 could have been worth ₦10,000 by now. This illustrates how much we need prayers,” Adeboye said.
