Dayo Israel, the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has sent the social media on frenzy after presenting his appointment letter as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, to President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.

Israel, who was among the 44 individuals recently appointed by the president to head various government agencies and ministries, shared the moment on social media, describing Seyi Tinubu as his “brother.” In a post accompanied by a video, he expressed gratitude for Seyi’s support and prayers as he prepared for his official duties in Abeokuta.

“Today, I presented my brother, Mr. Seyi Tinubu, my Letter of Appointment as Chair of the Governing Board of FMC Abeokuta. I am grateful for his kind words and prayers as I head to Abeokuta on a familiarisation and needs assessment visit soon,” he wrote.

The gesture has since generated mixed reactions from Nigerians. While some supporters commended Israel for acknowledging Seyi Tinubu’s influence, others questioned why he needed to present his appointment letter to the president’s son. Critics argued that he should focus on assuming his new role rather than engaging in symbolic visits and social media displays.

Read some netizens’ reactions below;

@legibiti: So many things wrong here;
– Presenting your letter of appointment to ST
– Publicly announcing it
– Being appointed to lead a large hospital like FMC Abeokuta without any medical experience or experience in leading a large institution

@mrdexter: We are in a useless country. Sometimes a go a professor from USA went to thank MC Oluomo for winning house of rep in Lagos. Israel went to present his letter of appointments to Seyi, something he could have done without media. Nigeria is not going anywhere but backwards.Pathetic!

@reborn: Oga get to work and forget all these presenting of letter here and there.

@awoist: How does presenting this letter to Seyi better the lot of FMC Abeokuta?

Abi, what sorta nonsense is this?

@diogo: Start doing the job that you are appointmented to do, stop this drama.

The development has raised unanswered questions about the role of Seyi Tinubu in his father’s administration, with many Nigerians questioning his level of influence in government appointments.
