Winner emerges for APC guber primary in Anambra

Prominent businessman, Nicholas Ukachukwu, has clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket for Anambra State, following a resounding victory over former PDP candidate Valentine Ozigbo.
Ukachukwu secured a commanding 1,455 votes, while Ozigbo, who recently defected to the APC, garnered just 67 votes—marking a landslide win for Ukachukwu ahead of the November 8, 2025, election.
In his acceptance speech, Ukachukwu boldly declared his intention to lead APC to victory in Anambra, saying:
“We shall deliver Anambra to the APC. One thing I want to say here—nobody has ever won the governorship of Anambra without my support; it has never happened. I have been playing godfatherism, but now I want to be the father of the father, no more godfather.”

Meanwhile, other major political parties have also concluded their primaries.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) emerged unopposed, securing 3,168 out of 3,172 delegate votes. He has nominated his current deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, as his running mate.
The Labour Party (LP) also completed its primary, with renowned economist and former CBN deputy governor, Kingsley Moghalu, winning the party’s ticket.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), however, has rescheduled its governorship primary from April 5 to April 8, citing administrative adjustments to ensure a seamless election process.
With Ukachukwu’s emergence, the stage is gradually being set for a high-stakes contest in Anambra, as parties finalize their preparations ahead of the crucial November poll.
