Women Council empowers vulnerable women in Bauchi

The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) in Bauchi State has empowered vulnerable women across the state with startup capital to ameliorate economic hardship.

The Bauchi State NCWS President, Jummai Liman Bello, said that the gesture was part of the state council’s mandate to empower women and advocate for women’s issues.

Bello while presenting the money to the beneficiaries at a stakeholders meeting in Bauchi, urged them to put the money to good use.

“Basically, we are into collaboration, empowerment, advocacy. The essence of today’s gathering is to meet with relevant women groups.

“We realised that the NCWS in the state lacked visibility and most of the women groups are unaware of what NCWS stands for, and only view it as an ordinary women group

“We are able to give a token to 10 women across the state as part of our empowerment effort. NCWS is a non governmental organisation, but from time to time we receive grant from the government and we felt that just like the First Lady Remi Tinubu and Aisha Mohammed are doing, we want to emulate them

“Instead of just doing a programme and going away just like that, we will try to empower women”.
