100 terrorists killed as Boko Haram, ISWAP clash

Over 100 fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly lost their lives during a clash in the Lake Chad region.
According to a report by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the clash occurred early this month in Toumbun Gini, Abadam LGA of Borno state.
The publication said the Bakoura (aka Abu Umaima)-led JAS Buduma fighters launched an “unforeseen attack” on the ISWAP faction positioned on the shores of their headquarters at Toumbun Gini, resulting in the killing of over 90 members.
According to Makama, the JAS Buduma fighters secured weapons and equipment during the attack and subsequently seized control of nearby areas from ISWAP.
This development is part of a series of deadly encounters between the rival factions.
On July 6, JAS fighters launched an attack on ISWAP-controlled areas in Kwatar Shalla Shuwari, killing 16 fighters and capturing 8 water vessels, several weapons, and a large amount of cash.
The captured items were later delivered to their leader at Alli Modulla Camp, in Diffa, Republic of Niger.
In another encounter on July 8 in Dawashi Kwalta, over 20 ISWAP fighters were killed, with others “drowning while escaping through the river”.
