2 dead, others injured during land dispute in Nasarawa

Two individuals were reportedly killed while several others injured in Keana town during a land dispute at the Benue-Nasarawa border community.
Eyewitnesses informed our reporter that the incident began when the bodies of Alago indigenes were discovered on their farms.
“As I speak, I am hiding in the roof of my house with my family because we are under attack by youths chanting war songs,” said one resident.
Another witness reported seeing multiple bodies and many injured individuals, with some being taken to Lafia for treatment.
The conflict is related to a land dispute between the indigenous Alagos and Tivs.
Peter Ahemba, the senior special assistant to Nasarawa State Governor on Public Affairs, confirmed the incident, stating that it stemmed from a land dispute between the Tiv from Benue and Alago indigenes at the Benue-Nasarawa border.
Ahemba reported that one person was killed, and four were wounded.
He added that security agents had been deployed to the area, and peace had been restored.
