Police refuse 23 chairmen access to offices in Rivers

The newly inaugurated caretaker chairmen have been denied access to their offices in all 23 LG headquarters.
The Rivers State Police command cited order from Abuja as the reason behind their actions.
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara had earlier on Wednesday sworn-in the Caretaker Committee Chairmen for the 23 Local Government Councils of the State.
However, the police said the decision to take over the councils was taken to forestall more bloodshed and prevent further deterioration of security in the State.
