6 suspects arrested for stealing N1m motorbike in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command charged six men with theft, presenting them before two magistrate courts in the Ado Ekiti Magisterial District.
Three defendants – Abdullah Usman (22), Abdullah Azeez (25), and Alex Sunday (32) – were brought before the court for allegedly stealing a motorcycle worth one million naira (N1m) in Ikole Ekiti.
The remaining three younger defendants – Adesigbin Love (13), Adesigbin Heritage (16), and Agboola Miracle (19) – were brought before the court in connection with the alleged theft of a phone valued at N250,000 in Ado Ekiti.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Raymond Osas, told the Magistrate Court presided over by Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele on Friday that Usman, Azeez and Sunday, on June 5, at Ikole-Ekiti, conspired to steal a motorcycle.
Osas said, “The defendants on the same date, time and place in the Magisterial District, did steal one Bajaj motorcycle valued at about N1m, property of Saliu Mohammed.
“The offence committed is punishable under Sections 421, 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021,” the prosecutor said.
Counsel for the defendants, J. S. Balogun, urged the court to admit his clients to bail, saying they would not jump bail and that they would provide credible sureties.
The magistrate, Mrs Bamidele, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties and adjourned the case to July 24, for a hearing.
On the matter of the N250,000 phone, three defendants, Adesigbin Love, Adesigbin Heritage and Agboola Miracle, were charged with “felony to wit shop breaking and stealing.”
The police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that “On February 5, 2024, at about 07:30p.m at Ado Ekiti, Adesigbin Love, did break into the shop of one Rabiu Kudirat and stole a Samsung Galaxy AO4S valued N250,000 and cash of N110,000.
“Adesigbin Heritage on the same date at about 9p.m, did receive the Samsung Galaxy AO4S phone stolen property of Rabiu Kudirat from Adesigbin Love.
“Agboola Miracle on March 10, at about 9p.m within the Magisterial District, did receive Samsung Galaxy AO4S stolen property of Rabiu Kudirat from Adesigbin Miracle.”
“The offence committed is punishable under Sections 421, 324(1) and (2), 302(1)(a), 343(2)(a) and (b) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021,” the prosecutor said.
Gboyega Abiola, Counsel for the defendants, pledged the court to grant them bail, saying they would not jump bail and provide credible sureties.
Mr Owoleso, the Chief Magistrate, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety and adjourned the case to August 5 for a hearing.
