Breaking: Senate begins move to set up LG Electoral Commission

A proposed legislation aimed at creating a federal body responsible for overseeing local government elections cleared its first hurdle in the Senate on Thursday, July 18, successfully passing its first reading.
The Bill titled, “Local Government Independent Electoral Commission (Establishment) Bill, 2024” was sponsored by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa, (APC – Niger East).
