NYSC speaks on N70,000 minimum wage for Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has refuted recent social media reports claiming that corps members’ bank accounts are being upgraded to accommodate a new N70,000 minimum wage.
The agency made it clear that no official directive has been issued by the appropriate authorities to initiate such payments or account modifications.
In an official statement released on Saturday, the NYSC’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, labeled the circulating reports as completely false and misleading. The organization stressed that these claims have no basis in fact and cautioned corps members, their families, and the public against believing such misinformation.
“The attention of National Youth Service Corps management has been drawn to misleading information circulating in the media regarding payment of N70,000 minimum wage to corps members and the directive to upgrade their accounts. This is an absolute falsehood which is far from the truth,” the statement read.
The NYSC clarified that it has not received any instructions from the relevant government agencies responsible for wage matters, and as such, it cannot implement or announce any changes related to the minimum wage.
The Corps urged members to rely solely on official communication channels and to ignore unauthorized directives circulating online. Furthermore, the NYSC warned bloggers and social media influencers against spreading unverified information about its operations.
In conclusion, the NYSC advised all corps members to stay alert and not fall prey to those spreading misleading information aimed at creating confusion.
