UI receives N201m from NELFUND to support 1,370 students

The University of Ibadan has confirmed receipt of N201 million from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to cover tuition fees for 1,370 students in the 2023/2024 academic session.
According to a circular by Registrar G.O. Salisu, students who applied for the loan but have already paid their fees can now apply for a refund. The Bursary Department is processing the fund to enable affected students to obtain smart receipts.
Thediscovererng.com reports that This support is part of President Bola Tinubu’s flagship NELFUND loan scheme, aimed at providing financial assistance to indigent or low-income Nigerians in tertiary institutions. The scheme has seen an overwhelming response, with 7,975 student loan applications received within 24 hours.
This timely intervention will ease the financial burden on students and families, promoting access to education and academic success.
