Katsina govt commends TETFund intervention, demands more support

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has lauded the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for contributing significantly to the development of tertiary institutions in the state.
Governor Radda disclosed this during a visit from the National Assembly Committee on TETFund Intervention and other Services. The Katsina Governor expressed his gratitude for the Fund’s support in infrastructure development and reducing the financial burden on state governments.
Governor Radda emphasised that TETFund has been instrumental in providing the much-needed resources to the state’s tertiary institutions. The interventions he said have enabled the state to improve the quality of education and enhance the learning environment for students.
The Katsina Governor pinpointed numerous infrastructure projects undertaken with TETFund’s assistance, emphasising the positive impact on the state’s educational landscape. He also acknowledged the challenges posed by banditry in the region, particularly affecting the Faculty of Agriculture at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University. Governor Radda proposed converting the faculty into a fully-fledged College of Agriculture to better serve the needs of the state.
The National Assembly Committee, led by Chairperson Mrs. Mariam Onuoha, pledged their commitment to supporting tertiary institutions across Nigeria. The Committee disclosed that there are currently 500 billion naira in unutilised TETFund funds at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). They commended the heads of tertiary institutions in Katsina State for their proactive efforts in accessing these funds, noting that only 1.4 billion naira remains unutilized in the state.
Governor Radda commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Speaker of the National Assembly for establishing the Committee, which is dedicated to improving the infrastructure and education systems of tertiary institutions nationwide.
