Nigerian police demands justice for slain senior officer

The Zamfara State Police Command has strongly condemned the senseless killing of Superintendent of Police, Halliru Liman by military personnel attached to Operation Dadarin Daji.
The command is calling for a comprehensive investigation and demands that those responsible be brought to justice.
According to ASP Yazid Abubakar, spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, SP Liman was shot in the head by a military personnel identified as Hassan, despite clearly identifying himself as a police officer. The incident occurred on August 28, 2024, while Liman was en route to a scheduled meeting in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
The command described the circumstances of the killing as “alarming and unacceptable” and urged the authorities to take swift action. “The military’s actions are a clear violation of the rules of engagement and the principles of inter-agency cooperation,” Abubakar emphasized.
The police command stressed the importance of maintaining harmony between security agencies, noting that they must work together to maintain peace and security, not engage in violent confrontations that undermine public trust.
The statement concluded with condolences to the family and colleagues of SP Halliru Liman, with a pledge from the police command to pursue justice. “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and colleagues of SP Halliru Liman and assure them that we will do everything in our power to ensure justice is served.”
