Gunmen kill LP chairman

Labour Party chairman in Igumale Ward 1 of Ado Local Government Area, Benue State, Mr. Sunday Oche, has been killed in an ambush by suspected armed herdsmen.
The incident happened while Mr. Oche was returning from his farm with five others, who managed to escape but sustained serious injuries.
The group, riding on two motorbikes, encountered the ambush on Tuesday around 4:30 p.m.
The attackers immediately targeted Mr. Oche, fatally shooting him on the spot.
The others fled, leaving behind their motorbikes.
Upon receiving news of the attack, local youths mobilized to the scene, only to find the attackers had already fled, leaving Mr. Oche’s body behind.
Mr. Oche, who leaves behind a wife and two children, will be buried on Thursday, September 5, 2024. The five injured individuals are currently receiving treatment.
The Labour Party in Benue State has confirmed the incident and is coordinating with the family on burial arrangements.
The case has been reported to the police, though no official statement has been released yet.
