BY NAJIB SANI, GOMBE
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Gombe State Council, has strongly condemned the vicious attack on Zulqarnain Muhammad Inuwa, a journalist with Radio Nigeria, Jewel FM, Gombe.
Zulqarnain was attacked by hoodlums in Bauchi metropolis last Wednesday in the night, resulting in the loss of valuable items, including his laptop, phone, recorder, and sum of N85,000.
The union in a press release by its state chairman, Comrade Faruk Muazu, condemned the incident and called for investigation.
Faruk said the incident underscores the growing insecurity and threats faced by journalists in the discharge of their duties.
“The NUJ is demanding that authorities immediately investigate and arrest the perpetrators, provide protection for journalists and citizens from such attacks, and compensate Inuwa for his stolen items.
“The union is urging the Bauchi State Government and security agencies to take decisive action against the rising menace of ‘Sara-suka’ thugs.”, he said.
