VIDEO: Ministry of women affairs staff celebrate Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye’s dismissal

A viral video circulating on social media has captured employees of the Ministry of Women Affairs celebrating following the dismissal of their former minister, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The footage, shared on the social media platform X by Abubakar Sidiq Usman, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), shows ministry staff dancing and chanting in the office corridors on Wednesday evening.
In the video, the workers express a sense of relief, with chants of “finally” ringing through the halls, signaling their apparent approval of the minister’s removal. The celebration hints at internal dissatisfaction and the possibility of unresolved issues within the ministry during Kennedy-Ohanenye’s tenure.

The leadership change came as part of a major cabinet reshuffle announced by President Tinubu, which saw the removal of five ministers. Alongside Kennedy-Ohanenye, the president dismissed Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism; Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development; Prof. Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education; and Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development.
