Miss universe contestant disqualified

The Miss Universe journey has come to an abrupt end for 19-year-old Italy Mora, who was set to represent Panama at this year’s competition in Mexico City.
Scheduled to compete alongside 130 contestants from around the world on November 16, Mora’s dreams were dashed following her disqualification over an alleged breach of competition rules.
Reports reveal that the Miss Universe organization conducted an “exhaustive evaluation” by their disciplinary commission regarding Mora’s actions. While official statements did not specify the exact reason, local sources suggest her dismissal was due to an unauthorized visit to her boyfriend, Juan Abadía, at his hotel room — a move allegedly not sanctioned by event organizers.
Mora, however, has contested these claims, asserting that her departure stemmed from a dispute with César Anel Rodríguez, the Director of Miss Universe Panama. According to Mora, tensions escalated over what she described as a lack of organization within the pageant, a concern that reportedly led to a heated argument. Her boyfriend, Abadía, claimed he traveled to Mexico specifically to assist Mora with needs he said the organization had failed to meet.
In a statement addressing her disqualification, Miss Universe representatives emphasized the organization’s commitment to fairness and candidate well-being. “It is important to note that we made this decision with the utmost respect for all parties involved. Our No. 1 priority remains the welfare and transparency for all of our candidates, who exemplify diversity, talent, and dedication,” the statement read.
Despite the controversy, the organization has decided not to replace Mora with another contestant from Panama, instead opting to focus on preparations for next year’s competition.
