Forum defends Ribadu, slams Lamido over national security

The North East Consultative Cooperatives Forum has come out strongly against former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, criticising his recent comments about National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Speaking with journalists in Gombe on Monday, the forum’s chairman, Barrister Abdullahi Jalo, urged Lamido to refrain from politicising security matters and distracting the NSA.
Lamido had labeled Ribadu as “talkative and flippant,” but Jalo countered that Ribadu has done an exemplary job since taking office, particularly in reducing banditry and other security challenges in the country.
“As an elder statesman though a member of the opposition, Lamido should encourage and support the NSA rather than engage in unconstructive criticism because national security transcends partisan politics.”, he said.
He noted that under Ribadu’s guidance, the country has witnessed significant improvements in security, particularly in the fight against kidnappings and banditry.
