Truck driver, conductor arrested for beating man to death

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a truck driver, Olalere Timileyin, and his conductor for allegedly beating a man to death over accusations of theft.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola. According to the statement, the incident occurred in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.
Odutola explained that the suspects assaulted the victim after accusing him of stealing a tarpaulin. The brutal attack reportedly led to the man losing consciousness and subsequently dying.
The incident came to light when a resident, Alao Fadipe, reported the altercation to the police. Fadipe stated that he witnessed the confrontation around 3 a.m. on Friday, December 13, in front of his house at Iyana Ikereku. Upon approaching the scene, he observed the truck driver and his conductor, both linked to a cement factory in the area, violently attacking the man.
The suspects were arrested shortly after the report, and the case is currently under investigation. Meanwhile, the police have assured the public of a thorough probe into the matter to ensure justice is served.
