Former US president dies

Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States and a global symbol of humanitarianism, passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100.
He died peacefully at his residence in Plains, Georgia, where he had been in hospice care since February 2023.
As the longest-living U.S. president, Carter was widely respected for his unwavering dedication to peace, human rights, and humanitarian causes. Though his tenure as president from 1977 to 1981 was marked by both achievements and challenges, his post-presidency work defined his legacy as one of service and compassion.
Through the Carter Center, established in 1982, he championed global health initiatives, promoted democracy, and worked tirelessly for conflict resolution. His partnership with Habitat for Humanity further underscored his commitment to affordable housing, touching lives worldwide.
Carter’s relentless advocacy for human dignity earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, recognizing his decades of work in fostering peace, advancing human rights, and addressing global social justice issues.
Plans are underway for a state funeral in Washington, D.C., to honor his life and service, followed by a private burial in Plains, Georgia, his lifelong home.
Jimmy Carter leaves behind an enduring legacy of compassion, humility, and a steadfast belief in the power of humanity to create positive change—a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
