Barcelona cruise to Super Cup final with victory over Athletic Club
Barcelona have secured their place in the Super Cup final following a commanding 2-0 victory over Athletic Club.
Goals from Gavi and 17-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal sealed the triumph in a match played at a packed stadium.
The Catalan side opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Gavi converted an assist from Alejandro Balde.
Barcelona controlled possession and created chances, maintaining their dominance in the first half, which ended with the Blaugrana holding a slender lead
In the second half, the ever-impressive Lamine Yamal doubled Barcelona’s advantage in the 52nd minute.
The teenager showcased his brilliance, finishing expertly after a neat assist from Gavi, much to the delight of Barcelona supporters.
Athletic Club struggled to mount a significant challenge throughout the game. Their efforts were further dampened when VAR disallowed a late attempt by Iñaki Williams.
The win sees Barcelona progress to the final, with expectations high as they aim to clinch the Super Cup trophy.
